Process

My work is inspired by Chilean vidrio fundido, which essentially means “melted glass.” I acquire hand-made art glass, which is like stained glass. Then, I shape and hand-paint* each piece. After incorporating silver inclusions, I kiln-fire the pieces for about 8 hours, reaching temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. After the glass paintings have cooled, I finish them with sterling bails or ear wires.

*Exception: The white/black Bambú pieces are created with layered, unpainted glass.
